Instructions

Baby Powder for Itchy Diaper Rash

  • Prepare the calendula (if using). Finely grind dried calendula petals using a clean coffee grinder or mortar and pestle until they form a soft powder.
Mix the base ingredients. In a mixing bowl, combine the arrowroot powder and bentonite clay. Stir gently to blend evenly.
    Add your soothing ingredient
If using calendula powder, add it to the mixture and stir well.
If using tea tree essential oil, add just 1–2 drops and mix thoroughly to avoid clumping (you can blend it into a small portion of arrowroot first to disperse it evenly).
Sift for smoothness (Optional but recommended): sift the finished powder through a fine mesh strainer to break up any lumps.
Transfer to the container. Use a funnel to pour the finished powder into a clean, dry shaker jar or airtight container.

  • Combine dry ingredients. In a clean bowl, mix the arrowroot powder and kaolin clay until evenly blended.
Add lavender oil (optional). If using, add one drop of lavender essential oil. To prevent clumping, you can mix the oil into a small portion of the arrowroot first, then blend that back into the full mixture.
Sift (optional). For an extra silky texture, sift the mixture through a fine mesh strainer before transferring to your container.
Store properly. Pour the finished powder into a clean, dry container with a secure lid—like a repurposed spice jar, powder shaker, or glass jar with a sifter top.

  • Prepare dried lavender (if using). Grind dried lavender flowers into a fine powder using a mortar and pestle or a clean coffee grinder.
Mix dry ingredients. In a bowl, combine arrowroot powder, kaolin clay, and either the ground lavender or proceed to step 3 if using essential oil.
Add lavender essential oil (if using instead of flowers). Add 1 drop of lavender essential oil, mixing it into a small portion of arrowroot first to disperse it evenly, then combine with the rest of the powder.
Optional: Sift for smoothness. For a silky texture, sift the mixture through a mesh strainer before storing.
Store properly. Transfer the finished powder to a clean, airtight container such as a shaker jar, spice jar, or glass container with a sifter lid.
