Lavender Matcha (Iced or hot!)
This Lavender Matcha is a beautiful, calming latte made with earthy matcha, floral lavender syrup, and your choice of milk. Refreshing, simple, and homemade in just minutes!
Course Drinks
Cuisine Japanese
- 1/2 tsp green matcha powder (preferrably ceremonial grade, see note 1)
- 2 ounces cool water
- 2-3 tsp lavender simple syrup (see note 2)
- 6 ounces milk
- ice
For an iced lavender matcha:
Sift the matcha powder through a fine-mesh strainer. Then, whisk it with cool water until smooth and lightly frothy.
Whisk in the lavender syrup until thoroughly combined. I recommend starting with two teaspoons and adding more to suit your preferred sweetness.
Fill a glass with ice and pour the matcha-lavender mixture over it. Omit this step if you prefer a hot matcha.
Pour the milk over the ice. For a layered look, slowly pour the milk over the back of a spoon to control the flow and how quickly it mixes with the green matcha.
Stir gently and enjoy!
For a hot lavender matcha:
Sift the matcha powder through a fine-mesh strainer. Then, whisk it with cool water until smooth and lightly frothy.
Whisk in the lavender syrup until thoroughly combined. I recommend starting with two teaspoons and adding more to suit your preferred sweetness.
Warm the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat, then froth it with a milk frother until light and foamy.
Pour the frothed milk over the matcha and lavender syrup. Enjoy!
