Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp green matcha powder (preferrably ceremonial grade, see note 1)
  • 2 ounces cool water
  • 2-3 tsp lavender simple syrup (see note 2)
  • 6 ounces milk
  • ice

Instructions

For an iced lavender matcha:

  • Sift the matcha powder through a fine-mesh strainer. Then, whisk it with cool water until smooth and lightly frothy.
  • Whisk in the lavender syrup until thoroughly combined. I recommend starting with two teaspoons and adding more to suit your preferred sweetness.
  • Fill a glass with ice and pour the matcha-lavender mixture over it. Omit this step if you prefer a hot matcha.
  • Pour the milk over the ice. For a layered look, slowly pour the milk over the back of a spoon to control the flow and how quickly it mixes with the green matcha.
  • Stir gently and enjoy!

For a hot lavender matcha:

  • Sift the matcha powder through a fine-mesh strainer. Then, whisk it with cool water until smooth and lightly frothy.
  • Whisk in the lavender syrup until thoroughly combined. I recommend starting with two teaspoons and adding more to suit your preferred sweetness.
  • Warm the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat, then froth it with a milk frother until light and foamy.
  • Pour the frothed milk over the matcha and lavender syrup. Enjoy!
