Strawberry Matcha: Simple 5-Minute Latte

This strawberry matcha latte is a refreshing café-style drink you can make at home in just 5 minutes. Choose between two versions: one with mashed fresh (or frozen) strawberries for a fruity base, or a quick strawberry powder method for convenience. Both are creamy, vibrant, and delicious hot or iced.

Ingredients
  

Fresh or Frozen Strawberry Version

  • 4 frozen strawberries, thawed (or fresh strawberries cooked down until soft)
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder
  • 2 ounces cool water
  • 4 ounces milk of choice (I prefer whole milk)
  • ice
  • extra fresh or frozen strawberries for garnish

Strawberry Powder Version

  • 1/2 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp strawberry powder
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 2 ounces cool water
  • 4 ounces milk of choice (I prefer whole milk)
  • ice
  • extra fresh or frozen strawberries for garnish

Instructions
 

Fresh or Frozen Strawberry Verion:

  • In a small pan, cook down 4 frozen strawberries until soft (or use thawed). Mash with 2 tsp honey until syrupy. You can also blend them until smooth for a strawberry syrup.
  • Spoon the strawberries into the bottom of a glass and cover with ice.
  • In a small bowl, sift 1/2 tsp matcha powder. Add 2 oz cool water and whisk with a bamboo whisk until smooth and frothy.
  • Pour the matcha over the strawberries and ice.
  • Top with 4 oz milk of choice. Stir before drinking, or enjoy layered. Garnish with extra strawberries and enjoy!

Strawberry Powder Version

  • In a small bowl, sift 1/2 tsp matcha powder. Add 2 oz cool water and whisk until smooth.
  • Sift in 1 ½ tsp strawberry powder and whisk again. Stir in 2 tsp honey until dissolved.
  • Fill a glass with ice and pour in the matcha-strawberry mixture.
  • Top with 4 oz milk of choice and stir. Garnish with extra strawberries and enjoy!

Notes

  • Fresh strawberries vs. strawberry powder: Fresh strawberries offer a jammy, fruity flavor, while strawberry powder is quick, shelf-stable, and provides a brighter, more intense berry taste.
  • Sweetener swaps: Use maple syrup, agave, or simple syrup instead of honey.
  • Dairy-free option: Oat milk gives the creamiest non-dairy latte.
  • Hot version: Skip the ice and use warm (not boiling) water + steamed milk.
